Mamba Max....

Azmio...we've had customers report the ESC still functioning at 257F (125C) with no air cooling or fans...as long as the motor does not get above 200F (93C) you're fine. With the high ambient temperature in Malaysia you may want to use a heatsink on the motor and cut some cooling holes in the front & rear windshield. Work your way in with the gearing...biggest spur & smallest pinion to start...increase teeth on pinion/decrease teeth on spur 1-2 teeth at a time until you get near max or are happy w/the performance. Let me know how it works out.

I added a mayore cooling fan for a hardisk it`s big but it works GREAT
I now run a gear ratio of 10. something ... with the 7700 on a tight carpet track with a 30 meters straight, it finaly doesn`t get hot but ... i do need set the brakes better .....

joe,
I am planning to install the 7700 to my wide pan car. There is no room for heat sink at all for the motor. HPI 10g rear pod is so small and there is no room for any heat sink in the market.
The way engineers design the cooling is to cool it off by locating the motor so close to the ground. It would really work in cold climate countries but in malaysia, with 55 degree C track surface, there is lesser heat transfer. I can try to open up my body but it will disrupt the airflow to the rear spoiler.
Anyhow, 7700 is going to be great with wide pan car. I use a high downforce bodyshell and i swear that there is such a high downforce as the car goes fast with 4.5 motor. The car is planted just like a Le mans racecar. The car can change direction through s curve easily There is no need for powerrobbing all wheel drive to provide extra traction.
Cant wait to see what 7700 can do to the wide pan car.

Hi Azmio
You can try to dremel down the fins (shorter). Its better to have heatsink than dun have.
I also using 7700 on pan given that tight space.

I'm running a 7700 in a Losi XXX-S on 3500mah 6 cell packs with a 35amp discharge rate. I ran a 86t spur with a 19t pinion. I have been told this is to low (FDR 8.28:1). The batts and motor are getting pretty hot even with the timing at its lowest. I was wondering what gear FDR i should run in the XXX-S and what anyone else with a XXX-S is running. Would a 128t spur on a 20t pinion be better (FDR 11.71:1)
Cheers,
Ben.

Phroz,
I bought a Mamba Max 7700 for my Losi XXX-S three weeks ago. Great stuff...
I use the standard spur gear (the yellow one with 88 teeth I think) with a 17 teeth motor pinion.
Well... it runs just fine. Great acceleration and top speed. No thermal shutdown yet. Usually, I do a three packs session with 3 minutes between each packs to cool down the motor and the ESC.
Tip : if the motor is hotter than the ESC, you need to use a bigger motor pinion. If the ESC is hotter than the motor, you need to use a smaller motor pinion.
Hope it'll help.
Cheers.

Just to attest at the durability of the Mamba, my friend accidentally overgeared it. He had a 5700 and was running a truggy and didn't understand gear ratios. Basically, the Mamba kept working until his batteries literally started to meltdown along with all the solder. He did this to three packs and the Mamba still works fine. I told him to regear his car, but instead he sold everything off to another friend of ours and it still works fine.

I am thinking of running the mamba max with my old 1 star LRP BL motor. Is there any way for me to download the proper software for sensored motor?

finally a forum with guys with mamba
firstly any one has a mamba 7700 in a cyclone,(2) have you had problems melting the soldier on the conectors that joins the motor and speed control together.

Azmio...the software for the sensored motors is not finished yet.
barber...get rid of the gold connectors and hard solder the wires together.

is their a stock motor equivalent in the works, something like a sensorless 13.5? I would like to run brushless stock class with castle equipment.

congrats to mamba
first i would like to say congrats to mamba for a great motor and a speedcontrol, but i want to shorten the wires, the motor wires are bigger than the speed control wires i would like to put the motor wire directly to the speed control but it is to big,any tips to get the wires shorten.
