so to run brushless systems, is it necessary for high mAh batteries, or LiPo? It seems that these systems would demand a lot from batteries--more so than a regular ESC.

Wow... 50mph... I can't imagine my car going that fast... well at least the 1/10 one.

If you run the 7700, you will need to run high end batteries, wires, connectors, etc. Otherwise, you will probably have problems with cogging and possible other issues including possible battery damage. Yes, these Mambas can draw a lot of power. A friend of mine literally melted two cheap battery packs with a 5400 by over gearing his truggy. No damage done to the Mamba, though.

I just realized that the picture was of a TT-01.

How does the drivetrain handle under that torque? Also are you using the tamiya pinions? I know the spurs are specifically made for the TT-01 by Tamiya, but I was curious about your pinion. If it is the tamiya pinion, do you find that you need to replace it often, since the aluminum they use is rather soft?

Wow I am rather envious of these setups...

Verndog - sintered rotor yes. Im not too sure about ceramic bearings either. but looking at a speedpassion ad, they have ceramic bearings as an upgrade...

Mooshu Beef - When i first got the Mamba Max i had the 5700 motor, and the first run obliverated the tamiya pinion gear. The next pinion gear i used was a Tobee craft alloy, it held up fairly good, but also stripped with a 4600 motor strapped to it. with the vortex, im now using robinson racing metric steel pinion, after 3 x 30min runs, ive just inspected the pinion and its holding up very very well!!

Make sure your cars weight is balanced from side to side. If it pills to the left it is possible that the car weighs a little more on that side.

that has nothing to do wit it. i held the car in my hand and squeezed the throttle and the steering servo moves to turn left

Ok then have you tried another servo to see if it does the same thing? If so then next step I would try if it iwas me would be another receiver. Even though it works I would just like to find out why the servo turns left when you hit the throttle.

I was borrowing a buddies KO servo and it would do the same thing with my KO speedo if I ran a 19t or any mod motor. I didn't do it with a stock motor. When I fixed my JR servo it worked fine. You might want to put a Spektrum capacitor in the battery slot. I think the servo is loosing power for a split second because of the high pull on the batteries from the motor.

Using 8.35FDR & Orion/Peak 3200 lipos & Spektrum DX2.0.

After a 20min drift run. Hearing the majority of mm/vortex ppl having stuttering & cogging issues, i was certain this was going to happen to me. For me though, no stuttering at all, ran as smooth as a babies bum. no cogging at low/mid/high throttle. I kept feathering the throttle to see if it would, this thing basically ran flawlessy!! Very very impressed with my MM/Vortex 7.5 combo!!

DirtDemon, You have PM!

How can I be wired different than you and still race, but had no top speed, ok punch??? I changed gearing for top speed, I know accel will decrease, but system shutdown twice with gearing going from 4.71 to 4.5 OK then 4.4, shutdown?? Still, I was hammered on straight and short shoots!!

Same ESC, so wires are the same on ESC!

Please give some understanding!!

You can place the wires anyway you want. You only need to check that the motor is turning in the right direction. if not, you need to swap just 2 wires around.

Default Combination ESC/motor problem??

This aplication is for On-Road Open Stock with 4800 Orion Lipo!

Ok! I got my shutdown issue fixed and now went about trying to get some speed. Geared down from 4.4 to 4.12 and the car still has no top speed.

Gearing: (86 spur / 47 pinion) X FDR 2.25 = 4.117

ESC: Mamba Max
Motor: Orion Vortex 13.5

Now my question. I have made adjustments to ESC for cogging. Some say they have none, I have some!

By changing the punch to 60% from 0% to help control cogging, could I be loosing my speed from that?

Or, adjusting timing of motor in ESC profile from normal to high for more acceleration cause the loss of speed? Motor temps today were higher, but not past 160 degrees.

Suggestion please!

Thanks!
