We bought it from someone with minimal pictures who said it was an HPI. We asked him if he was 100% sure, because it didn't resemble one. There's no HPI badges anywhere, and it didn't look like an HPI.

Then someone said it might be a Kyosho TF2... but I can't find any good pics. I don't know the difference between the TF cars... they aren't very popular around here.... actually, I've never actually seen one in person before.

Is the TF2 a 10th scale pan car? Is there a difference between the TF2 and the TF2 Spider? In short... WHAT THE HELL IS THIS THING???????

Whatever it is, I do have to admit it makes a good drifter...

Wow.. I spent 2 minutes looking those pictures over and see atleast 10 different problems. My favorite is the metal plate the ESC is sitting on, and how it is resting on not only the motor but the brush shunt..... Another Classic moment brought to you by Team Platinum.

Yup, its Kyosho. Your pictures are a little blurry and its tough to see the chassis, but I would say its a TF-3R99. I think the only one that came with the transponder mount top plate was the "99" (but that could have been changed/added). Is everything carbon fiber? If it is that would make it at least a 3R.

I understand about the shunt thing...... I know what you mean... the car seriously isn't mine.

It belongs to my friend... whom wanted an ESC mounting plate despite me telling him not to do it. I don't know what gets less glitching, the GT7 on a steel plate above the motor or the GT7 mounted about 1/8" away from the receiver...

Does anyone know what parts from the TF4 or TF5 are compatible? I doubt any TF5 stuff will work, but somewhere on the on-road forum I noticed a thread with a picture of a Kyosho 2 speed conversion for the TF2. Will that fit this thing?

Yes it will fit, but you will have to find one. I knew where there was 5, with a phone call I could probably get my hands on 3 (if they will sell them). I asked a few times before but they wanted big $$$ for them. They also paid big $$$ for them (I think they were around $100).

So how exactly does it work? Is it like a centrifugal system on a nitro tourer? I saw a picture but I couldn't quite understand it fully.

Are the shift points adjustable?

Its a finger style clutch, just like an older/cheeper nitro 2sp. and yes it is adjustable. They work fine, you can hear the shift and the car keeps accelerating. Problem is you have no brakes (or reverse if you want it)! Its in the design...crazy. The people that I know that have them took them out for that reason, not sure if they were all installed.

So the brakes don't work with the 2 speed? Is there a one way in the clutch? That must suck for racing... why would Kyosho use such a design?

What is it like to drive? What is the advantage (Other than 2 gear ratios on one drivetrain) over a single pinion/spur?
