Prophet Plus LCD chanrging 3600 Stick Pack

Hi. I am new and have a prophet plus LCD charger. I am charging a 3600 mah stick pack from "Intellect". I set the charge rate to about 4 amps and let it charge for an hour or so. After this amount of time the charger said lets trickle. The battery was very hot and had accepted about 4500 mah. Basically I am wondering if that number is about right or way low. I figure each cell should be holding 3600 X 6 It should get to about 20,000 some mah, right? About 1 hour before I charged it I ran the TC4 until there was a quite noticeable performance drop. The battery wasn't dead though, so I should put atleast 12,000 mah maybe 15,000 in it I would think. But 4500 seems quite low. Am I doing something wrong? Charging too fast? Thank you.

Oh No.... Charging your cells at 4amps is ok... But not ok to trickle charge NiMh. And if your cells say 3600,it should peak somewhere at that capacity...And not 3600x6=20,000 +++....Unless your cells are soldered in parallel.

Over-charging kills the cells, so does extreme heat...

I does sound like over charging. My 3800's take about 4200 but 3600's taking 4500 does sound a little much. You may have to play with your delta peak setting.

bwhaha okay so how the hell did I get 4500 into them, haha. It is a NI-cd and Ni-MH peak charger with trickle. Once it peaks it stops counting mah and just does whatever, it says trickle and it puts about .11 A out. The pack was really hot, but at 3600 it was just warm. I am charging my brothers 3300 stick pack with GP cells that he made himself and it is already past 3800 and barely warm. nex ttime should i force the charger to stop at 3700 on my 3600 pack?

Probably not as it may not put enough power into the pack. Can you change the Delta peak setting? if so try setting it to 3mV per cell.

I dont think I can change the delta peak setting, whatever that is. This charger set me back something like $50-60 so I wan't expecting much.

It sounds like it is over charging but if the battery went alright then don't worry about it. It might be worth putting the batteries on fans or somthing.
Sorry i couldn't help you, Drew.
