For the record, Craig was running a 3.5 Novak brushless (!!!!!!!!!) , which is just huge.. so there was a risk involved for thermalling.

Novak stuff is topnotch but if there is any race where you want to take a risk and push to the limits, this was the one.

Another driver running brushed on the same main burned up his Hara Speedo.. once again, topnotch stuff failing, which can happen in extreme racing.

So brushed or not, really, s***t happens

Congratulations to Andy for the win. Excellent job! Also congrats to Paul and Victor for their 3rd and 5th place finishes with SMC batteries and their 1-2 finish in main #2.

Well said....!

In all sort of racing, s**t do happen. In F1, there are always a few occasional, Cosworth, Mercedes, ........... Engine blowing up.

Thats racing...

The motors only shut down if you get them over 180 degrees. It's not a reliability factor, it's actually a feature that's intended to keep you from damaging the motors. I'm guessing these guys gear them to the point where they're as fast as possible without getting too hot. Brushless generally gets faster (and hotter) the more gear you throw at it, so it's a constant fight between speed and keeping the heat low enough to prevent thermal shutdown.

You can cut the sensor wire (not sure if it's legal) and risk burning up the motor and running it into the ground I suppose. It won't shut down and give people delusions about reliability, but you might smoke a few motors.

And the 3.5R? Was it really necessary to gear such a powerful motor at its very limits to get enough speed to be competitive? Scary.

Yeah.......I have seen things like that happen first and second hand. It is people like you that make the situation look worse by dragging these guys through the mud.

Besides...........is it really your place to talk about that stuff? Your not one of their sponsors or even a racer for that matter.

Don't hate the player........hate the game!!!!

The PROBLEM "A" main was the 2nd one. Lots of guys had speedo or motor problems, whether they were using brushed or brushless systems. It just so happens that the 2nd A main was held at just about the hottest time of the day.

I got my Novak 4.5 brushless to "thermal" once. It was a boiling hot day. I ran it again the same evening without touching anything, and it was fineand has been ever since.

Like somebody said earlier, it's a safety feature, and when these World class drivers are running in the sort of competition they do, they are bound to take risks.

Good morning everybody. Just returned from Italy yesterday, it was a long and exhausting event but of course also very exciting!

First of all... congrats to Andy Moore for taking his first major win, he had a fantastic race and drove very clever to take 1st place. Well done mate...

About brushless vs. brushed...
- it seems like this is like Coke vs. Pepsi, or Ferrari vs. McLaren in F1...
- why can people not accept that both systems have their advantages and disadvantages?
- in my opinion both have chances of winning major races, just right now the majority of topdrivers is using brushed because of existing contracts...

We had our shooting star Ronald Völker in the A-main, he was using the LRP Sphere Competition and the new Vector X11 5-Star. He'd have been capable of finishing much higher then 8th place, but got taken out in every single final... Anyway, everything ran flawlessly, we proofed our system to be fast AND reliable and also ended up as the best placed brushless.
Good job by Ronald, especially considering this was his first Worlds event. There's more to come...

Btw, where are the "GP-supporters" Nicolas and Worldcup2004 how much better the GP cells are?
Haven't seen many of those there...

Craig's brushless has cost him before, at the 2nd round of the BRCA mod nationals, held at Snetterton where he took FTD, but in his first final, his car started to sound very sick, and then, stopped dead, the brushless having giving up. Another fact that may surprise some non-UK racers; Andy Moore was in the B final at this national!!!! He has had lots of bad luck this season with only 1 A final appearance, but I'm glad he's put that behind him and got it right when it mattered!! What's Nationals to the Worlds eh?

Congrats to Andy Moore and the HB team for a great performance and effort. Also congratulations to every other driver who was GOOD ENOUGH TO BE COMPETITING AT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS.

This is what this thread is about right? or is it school girl bickering over trivial motor matters?
