Calling for Kyosho TF4 owners
Help any1? I juz purchased a used Kyosho TF-4 and the wheel hexes are nothin i ever seen b4.. in my previous kits, there were pins linking the shaft to the hex,which in turns turns the wheel.. but when i diassembled my TF-4, i did not find any pins or any locking mechanism.however, the kit came with the wheels hexes perfectly mounted... how is that possible? I'm trying to reassemble the kit.. someone out there pls help.. thanx!:cry:

the tf4 wheel hex is force fit on the axle. it is a bit tapered when viewed from the side. i think it works this way- as you are tightening the locknut, it holds the hex tighter to the axle. ive had an old kyosho nitro mk2 with a similar hex system and it worked fine. one disadvantage is the aluminum hex sometimes get stuck on the rims when you remove them, you have to poke them out with a small screwdriver.

Yes i do notice the tapered ends. But the problem i encounter when i try installing new wheels is that before the wheels are fully tightened, turning the box wrench causes the universals to turn,thus, i end up with only turning the universal instead of of tightening the wheel... :cry:

Stick a small allen key into the universal to stop it rotating....a pain in the neck...but it works!

oh yeah, i remember doing what dtm said :sweat: i use an allen wrench to stick in the outdrive slots to keep it from rotating until the locknut is cranked down.
