Default Futaba 3PK and 3PK Super

Anyone know what the main differences are between the 3PK and the 3PK Super?

Also anyone using the HRS spektrum module in their 3PK have a problem that the module cover no longer fits as the spektrum module is slightly oversized?

Thanks

they are both identical..
the super is alot easier to get around in the menus. more usuer friendly.

if you're in the market to get a 2.4ghz system for the 3pk
Futaba will have their system released any month now...
check out the new system on the Robbe website..or do a search here on this forum...there is a thread already started w/pics & specs on Futaba's 2.4 ghz.

from the futaba website:
The 3PK Super has all of these upgrades...

Redesigned Keypad — with a large, easy-to-use jog button. This one button moves the cursor left, right, up or down; pushing the button in then accesses the function.

Vibrating Alert System — useful for monitoring battery levels, indicating Power On and Timer Up, as well as lap navigation

Expanded Driver Menu — featuring three levels and a “Big” menu especially for drivers of 1/5 scale and larger vehicles.

Throttle Mode Select — for choosing from two servo neutral points: 70/30, which offers more acceleration and less brake for nitro modelers, or the equal acceleration/brake 50/50 mode for electrics.

Double the Model Memory — up to 20 models, while still being compatible with the CAMPac module that can add another 10 models.

I couldn't wait so I got the spektrum HRS sytem for my 3pks

It seems that Futaba is delaying the release of their own 2.4GHz unit. Maybe because it wont work in nitro cars where the radio box is sealed to minimize radio noise so the antenna wire is a must...

Yes, its delayed a bit - its being updated to increase its performance. On big races where its a lot of racers using them (and other makes) and its a lot of other things like PA system etc - it needs to be better. But thats the same with most of these 2.4GHz systems. Also the feature that the first test samples had with being able to chose a spot frequency is being removed also. That thing alone would make it illegal in the US = no FCC aproval. But thats being fixed now.

Our test system have worked flawless here in Scandinavia - no issues what so ever... Im pretty shure it will be the thing to have when it arrives.

oh yeah forgot,

I bought a replacement module cover and dremeled it for a perfect fit in my 3pks with HRS spektrum. All you have to do is enlarge alittle around the anntena and the bind button then grind alittle off the bottom of the clips that insert into the radio. I just wanted to keep the original in case I want to sell in future...

Man I forgot to post about this issue. I will have something up soon , but yes horizon does need to address this issue. My NEW spektrum pro module did not fit into my new 3pk.

The deal seems to be solvable though , but im not happy with that. I had the old module and it fits perfect.

The deal is the new plastic is getting warped under pressure from the screws. Loosen your screws and youll watch it tuck back in. I also took my spektrum module apart and beveled the edges of the case. This makes it so when its tightened up some it doesnt bow outwards as much.

I really wasnt happy with this. It seems its a combo of overtightened screws (you can tell because there is plastic shavings floating around the screw channels).

But you do this and itll fit , a bit snug still....but it will fit. I would try loosening the screws first. I made it just loose enough to keep tight fit...without being loose.
