Default Eagle Racing CDC V6.0/B Problem

Hey guys !

I've been having a problem with my CDC where it seems to not want to discharge a pack unless it has a full charge in it. It says "Discharge Mode Start" then straight away "Discharge Mode End". It is as though the voltage cutoff (5.4V) is set too high , is there a way to set it?

Also , when I try to partial charge sometimes it says "Charge Mode Start" then straight away says "Charge Mode End". It wont partial charge the pack for no obvious reason. Any idea's ?

Thanks alot.

Kind Regards
Pat.

The cut off of the CDC6/B is 0.8v/cell (4.8v for a 6pack). I suspect that your batteries' condition is poor. Try a newer pack, borrow from a friend or something.

Thanks for the reply purplepro3 , the packs are quite old now.

I changed the partial charge from 20% (where it wouldn't work) to 10% and then it did work. Why would that happen ?

Thanks.

Kind Regards
Pat.

pat in the next issue of racing lines i suggested there might be a software bug, i found that if i went into the personal prefs menu and changed the partial setting form the factory to anything else it worked (even if you went back to factory) it would then partially charge to what ever you set it to as many times as you want (untill you power it down then you have to set it again)

Here is what I found out about the partial charge "bug". When you select a new profile and wants to partial charge your pack, you have to go into the User Setting menu first then back out to charge-partial charge setting. Then the partial charge function will work. Strange isn't it?

As for the discharge ended right after you start, your pack's voltage dropped below the 0.8V/cell when under high load (~10+A) but if you try discharge the same pack at 0.1A, it will start to discharge it , slowly.

i just bought my CDC 6.0b, is there no way to change the discharge cut-off voltage and it MUST be 0.8v/per cell ???

Hey Pat

After a 5 min Stock Race using 3000HV's, I discharge at 20A, but it isn't a long discharge time till it cuts off. Can't remember how many Mah it takes out. I might try and then discharge at around 5A and see if it takes some more out.

Trial and error I suppose

To discharge at 20A, try using a partial charged pack or any pack that still have some juice in there. I hope you are discharing Sub C type of battery at 20A. AA or AAA or Micro RS4 battery pack will be damage if it's discharged at that rate.

Thanks again for the reply's.

I am discharging Suib-C size batteries (Sanyo 3000HV). I tried using a partial charged pack and it did discharge at 20A. The other pack only got about 40mAh more out of it. So what was said about the 20A making it go below 4.8V must be right.

Thanks again for all your help.

Kind Regards
Pat.

hi,

i'm a beginner n just got my cdc v6 few days ago
got few questions for the pro-s here

1) can i lower down the buzzer?hate it

2) noticed that the charger will stop charging/discharging for 5 sec...at 55 sec, 1:55, 2:55....n so on n that the voltage will drop for more than the delta v i hv set but the charger didn't cut-off.is this normal?or my packs got prob?

3) i can't seem to charge single cell for more than 3.64A...my psu is not good enuff?it's just a cheap psu...meanwell 8.5A

4) my batt always got overcharged...at 15mv delta v. and the temp is almost similar even when i'm using 3mv(lowest)...is it my packs that got prob?

FYI, i'm only using gp3300 n local drivers here said should go between 15 to 18mv for nimh

Thanks

1) No, just a choice of annoying tunes

2) Normal behaviour

3) Also normal behaviour

4) Sadly, also normal behaviour. The CDC tends to get packs warmer than most other chargers. Probably because of the 5 second pauses.

5) Whoah there! 15mV is way, way too much. The CDC is per cell, 15mV per PACK is more suitable. Stick to 3mV per cell.

hi there
thanks 4 the flash reply

4) glad both my charger n batt-s r ok.so...will it damage the cells?it's not overcharged...just overheated, that's what u're tryin 2 say?a DC fan will do?hopefully the new generation cells(3800,4300) will do just fine w/ cdc cos got lower IR=less heat i a**ume

must've misinterpret what they've told me back then to go around 15-18mv

Thanks

Overheated and overcharged are more or less interchangeable. If the cells are damaged, you will be able to tell on the track.

I wouldn't recommend cooling the cells with a fan on charge. They may seem cooler on the outside, but they will be just as hot on the inside.
