Default TA-05 drive belt.

I tried out my TA-05 out on a track today and my frond drive belt melted and wraped around the centre gear. Anyone got any solutions to fix that or any ideas of why it happened?

sounds like you ran the belt with incorrect tension (to loose I think) and then something got stuck in the front diff.

What should the proper tension be?

it should be as loose as can be with out the clicking. the best way is to stick a mod in the car like sa 12T or so... run it as loose as you think is ok, hit the throttle if you hear a click the belt is skipping tighten it up a bit. Keep tightening it up untill the click is gone. It should still ahve some loose tension but when the belt is too tight it will cause binding and you will be slow.

changing the belts and the tension on the TA-05 is so annoying!

I've had a similar thing happen to my TA05. Something got stuck in the pulley, flipped the belt over and wore out the centre pulley. If I could find a centre pulley that was metal I'd get it as my local hobby shop can't get the centre pullies (NFI why, they can get part #51212 and #51214 but not 51213) so I had to order it online.

Oh, and if you think changing and adjusting the belts in a TA05 is annoying, try doing a TRF415. You'll soon learn to appreciate how easy the TA05 is.
