ok, the only car that i run that motor in is a Tamiya mini cooper. and it is geared as high as the mini will allow. it is effectively a 23 turn motor, revving up to about 17-18krpm. so use that as a guide. hope that helps.

The Tamiya guy (Fred?) said it had the same winds as a regular Mabuchi, just more timing...you know, "Tuned".

HAHAHAH!

I see you sneaking around for 540 tips Taffy! Search the Electric On-Road forum for tips, I think there's a thread floating about somewhere about getting the best from them.

See you this Sunday!

Looks like Taffy is heading interstate for information. Just replied to your email, sorry it took so long, just at Uni and racing just gets a bit hectic midweek

Default comparison

If a Tamiya Sport Tuned motor is a 23-turn motor, how do you compare this to other 23-turn motors like the Orion Katana? Motor to be installed on a Yokomo SD SSG. Gears to be used? 34/86. I need your opinion guys!!!

there is no comparison. the Tamiya Sport tuned is a sealed end bell motor similar to a Mabuchi/Silver Can. a motor like the Orion Katana is a rebuildable motor. You can cut the comm, align the brush hoods, and change out the brushes.

Tamiya does make a 23T motor, the TZ and RZ. do a search, they've been discussed in the 23T Motor thread.

Default Black can vs stock motors

How do these compare to a good stock motor? Near as fast or what?
