hey guy's looking for some insight on gearing. I know how figure out my roll out and and all. problem is that with my previous cars I used to run a 88 spur gear. with the sp12x 88's won't fit , (meaning the pinion and spur won't align up due to the moter is blocked by the rear axle tube. i don't feel like gringing it down. I race on a very technical track. I would say medium size carpet is lay out. we use almost the whole lenth of a gym and we roll out three rolls. we run stock only. we also only run 6' lane. yes 6' lanes not the reg 12 feet for touring. as we only run 12 scale during the winter months.

I run a co27 motor and sometimes a monter based handout the one with the purple top. could some one give right now my tire are new prism(48mm) pink and up front there pro cut purples. I can change will problably try yellow and magenta this weekend. but first I need to get my gearing done. what size spur should I go with, I like to roll out around 42mm for the co27, I you guy's think I'm overgearing then give me a a sudjestion to what to try.

heck will i'm at it, what tube lube should I be going for I'm using blue corally and 40 in the shock for oil. not sure which spring. and sudjestion's on this would be appreciated too.

thanks in advance.

cyrrus-

We have found that a 94T spur gear gives a nice range of gearing for stock motors for the 12x motor mount location. 42mm for the CO27 definitely does not sound overgeared. On flowing tracks we gear as high as 46-47mm.

In Cleveland (med to hi bite) we used Corally red lube in the dampener tubes and 30 wt. shock oil with Jaco double pink fronts and yellow rears. Obviously these will be dictated by your traction conditions.

Default Tweak setup

I studied a few setup sheets from Corally site and others, e.g. this one: http://international.corally.com/xls..._Nationals.xls
In hte Rear Setup section you see Tweak: 3 mm. What does this mean? Does this mean that you keep the distance between the tweak screw of the T bar and the chassais 3 mm?

oze- I think it may mean that the rear pod droop is 3mm when lifted, but I don't know for sure. I don't think the tweak screws were off the chassis for high traction carpet. I believe they would only be set that way on low traction asphalt. The track at Snowbirds last year was a little bumpy, so the rear pod droop could have been set more than normal (0.5-1 mm for med-high traction) to handle better over bumps, or perhaps for more forward traction, or both.

oze-

Don't know if you saw them, but pages 8 and 9 of this thread have some setups for carpet.

Speaking about SP12X setups: http://www.petitrc.com/reglages/cora...rallySP12X.htm

Those documents are quite difficult to find so, that may help!

Alrighty.... I looked at the setup again, but I remembered I had a few more things to try. I'll report back with my findings later this week
