It used to be said that a 1farad capacitor would be impossible, if not it would be EXTREMELY large...

Well, we all know you can buy 1, and 1.5 farad caps for car audio. They are big, but not huge.

And, I have seen a capacitor device for car audio that is 40 farads. It consists of many smaller caps in a housing about the size of a good size amplifier.

i truely believe that the cap helps smooth out the ripple effect cause by speed changes from the ESC.

I am from car audio back ground so i know a little about caps one this that i can tell you that in all instructions included with these things they all state the same MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJORY OR DEATH IF USED INCORRECTLY

because of there abilty to stock such large amounts of power there also extremely dangerous in car even if fused the unit is still live

as for R/C use one or dont use one, most new ESC's dont actually need one any more because of the quality of the switching that are in them now.
But a good place to use one is plug one in to your receiver via the 3 channel or the battery circuit this with help with voltage changes when using high torque servos so helps eliminate glitching steering. also helps maintain a better voltage for personnal transponders too......
