Mabuchi or Johnson Which is more powerful???

Need to change my stock 540 motor as it is :deathstar

So is it true that the Johnson 540 is more powerful than the Mabuchi??

Yup it is ... I remeber when i was a kid and we would look in the kits for the johnson motors...

Yep it is. I had one that ran 1.56 during break in.

agree, johnson seems gruntier.

can you even get them any more? seems all new kits come with mabuchi's ?

I run two really old 4-slot johnson silver-can's at the mo.. fired one up on the weekend. they were both out of an original clod buster kit.. gotta be 13 yrs old at least. hehe

I just pulled a silver can off of an old tamiya car I had purchased fo rmy duaghter about 4-5 yrs. ago. I was gonna use it for the upcoming tcs event here ( i noticed one day that it hauled A$$). Are the 4 slots near the end bell, mine has them there.?? I also just bought a ta05 and noticed that both the new silver can and old silver can say "johnson" on them. Do I have the "good stuff" or not--Al
