Are spur gear changes on the BD11/BD12 as tedious as they appear to be?

I see it has some resemblance to that of the old OVA T4.

Yup, BD7 through to BD11 at least. C-clip and 6 tiny shims. I guess they want us to keep buying xrays?
Not having to remove that stupid 1 piece upper deck will make it less enraging though.
But that should only be needed once every few months unless you're racing different series all the time.

Get a lot of spare c-hubs and steering blocks if you're going to race BD series on carpet with less than impeccable driving!

Best thing to do indoors is switch to standard plastic c hubs and steering arms rather than graphite. This helps a lot minimising breakages.

Ugh, I hope it’s not wildly different from the BD11. It doesn’t appear to be.

I bought a BD11 two weeks ago.

Most notable difference is the motor mount and top deck. Next is the C hub with holes to install the anti rub tab...the rest seems the same from the BD11.

Probably could be done most expensive will be the chassis plate probably with new holes for the new motor mount.

Krapp said on one of his posts this wasn’t the final version and other options were being considered. The pictures don’t look like an official yokomo release.

Default Translation of BD12 Announcement

Ran the article through google translate. Not perfect but here what it returned:

NEW SEASOM

CLEVELS DEBUT

YOKOMO

MASTER SPEED BD12 (R#)

I achieved both stability and speed.

Tsukuba radio-controlled park coverage cooperation

Yokomo's flagship touring car, BD series, which always runs at the top of the scene, is a full model change. "BD12 (tentative name)" was released, which injected with the know-how cultivated in races around the world.

According to Naoya Kitagawa Yokomo, who was in charge of the development, the new chassis will be divided.

Pursuing habit-free operability by optimizing the chassis roll by adopting the upper deck. With the installation of the newly developed center bulkhead integrated motor mount, the pitching style is enhanced than the one-piece upper deck, and the chassis flex can be finely adjusted with the number of fixed screws. In addition, the nervous movement that occurs from the central roll point in the split upper deck has also been successfully canceled with the installation of ATF (Active Top Deck Flex) adopted in BD11.

In addition, in the new chassis, the shaft position of the center shaft is commuted 4 mm from BD11, and the motor mounting position is moved to the front side by reducing the super gear to 90T. By lowering the center of gravity and bringing the two rotation moments closer together, the cornering speed at high speed is increased.

Front and rear weight balance

The MD layout made to 50:50 is the same as the previous model. The main chassis prepares both carbon and aluminum.

RACING FACTORY

The height can be adjusted for the new shape front hub carrier. The graphite front lower arm adopts a center bulkhead motor mount with excellent travel ability.

Equipped with a carbon body stepner. 0.5mm long in the corner ring. The stabilizer emphasizes the initial operation. The outer battery support does not come with the kit and prevents the tire from touching the inside of the body.

Combine the 12mm hard type for

I'm planning to release it as a brass option.

The shaft position of the center shaft is almost the same as the motor shaft. The bulkhead of the high rear upper deck has 0 rings. The rear lower arm is 1ml for BD11 with excellent traction.

Set to Sa. Inherited the ATF of the roller pin support with the spur gear smaller and the motor forward. Adopted rear shocker short. The aluminum rear hub is braking.

By doing so, the work that minimizes the effect of the rotation moment is changed to a low-mount type.

Combine the stable caster angle of 4 degrees

Even lower, optimize roll motion

A new chassis that lowered the morning of the center shaft and achieved an even lower center of gravity. The front and rear shock is also shorter than for BD11.

Full of "High Big Bore Shock" made by AXON

We are in the final test for release!

With a low center of gravity and a split upper deck, the handling performance is smooth, and you can maximize the grip of the tire without moving nervously even in the high speed range. Protociacy has already entered the final test.

I'm planning to debut in an international race in the Czech Republic in March.

Does the carbon version have different shocks than the aluminum? At least from the photos they look different. It could be a general update too.

Also when using the horizontal body posts the rear shocks mount on a horizontal piece of carbon fiber. Curious to see more photos, as this solution could allow for a lot of bending/flex of that "shock tower".
