I won a Mars R at a championship last year, and run it with Spektrum now. I like the size of it, not as bulky as the Heilos or Futaba 3PK.

The Mars-R is module based, just like the modern radios today- 3PK, Helios, M11, etc. Just remove the stock module, drop in the Spektrum module, bind everything up, and you're done!

Spektrum really works well with it, from what I've heard. No glitching, no fussing with crystals-

I've had mine since '98 maybe '97 I think... Love it. Bought it when nobody knew KO or wanted to know. Small recievers have always been a plus. Would like to upgrade to the spektrum but we occasionally run in the rain. Better to wreck something easily replaced... Well used and well loved. Very little glitching in 8 years... Usually battery levels are too low.

Hey

I have run pretty much every EX1, the latest being the MARS R. Great radio, but i do find it a little heavy for its size. For that reason alone i am thinking of changing over to the helios.

I still remember the very first EX1 with this style of casing from back in the very early 90's complete with analog battery gauge and turn pot adjustments!!

If the EX-1 is a bit heavy for ya but you aren't ready to upgrade just yet, you could give Li-Po's a shot??? Once you drop them in, it's like running it without a battery pack- super light. Plus, with the Li-Po, the voltage is much more consistent. Instead of bouncing around (sharp voltage drops possibly causing a glitch), it will stay right around 12 volts consistently until it starts to dump off.

Worth a shot!!!!!
