Default proper gearing

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to properly gear my car..currently i am running an 88 tooth spur gear and an 18 tooth pinion with a high rpm motor the car runs well but the motor gets soo hot and i feel that if i go any smaller i will lose speed.

your setup at the moment is

team losi xxx-s whit 88 spur gear and 18 pinion whit 63mm tire rubbber so your rollout is 22.1 !! its so undergear so thats why your motor is so hot and dont run at his full performance!!

here we run the atlas at 31-33mm of rollout so!! you need gear them higher!!

i will suggest starting whit a 25 of pinion (7 teeth difference )

25 pinion is 30.075 mm
26 pinio is 31.954 mm
27 pinion is 33.183

starts whit a 25 pinion!!

hum k take a lot you need to clean it after each run and if your comm is like red or purple/blue the motor has overheating and also check your brush

Best thing would be to get the gearing ratio of the other fast guys at your track. Like T1Racer said the C2 have more RPM than the blue atlas, I don't concider that motor as a high rpm motor.

From my experience, It need to be geared like the peak dynasty/orion element, or a tooth lower than a quad mag. I run my blue atlas at 32 of rollout on carpet and our track is around 85*35

Hope this help.
