to thoroughly clean out the bearings, do you have to open up both sides (shields) of the bearing?

i'm afraid it may fall apart. any pointers will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Default bearings may fall apart

racer;

Some people do some people don't. Buy the RPM bearing blaster, it works really well and will force the cleaner and lube through the seals/shields, no disassembly nesessary.

I use Duckhams 0w40, initially the viscosity of the oil is too high but after 30 seconds, there is enough heat that the oil becomes nice and runny.

just my 2 pence worth.

racer;

A couple of things. In ALL of my Nitro Cars, I always use Rubber Sealed bearing to keep the Dirt out. In my Electric Car I was told to remove the seals/shield for less drag. Problem is now they are way too high maintenance and I really didn't notice any improvement by removing the seals. I'm going to replace them with Teflon sealed bearings for a good happy medium of drag and maintenance.

I also tried some Mobil 1 for bearing oil, but I feel it is too heavy. Going to buy some Trinity Royal oil as most of you guys seem to like it.
