I reckon it'll be stiff longitudinally, but it will be torsionally flexible.

I think this chassis is good to run if converted to FF configuration.
Unfortunately nowadays the International race rules of FF disallowed to run "self-made" chassis, and the other problem is the gear ratio is limited until 5.0 or 4.5 fdr, the weak point of shaft cars of they would have disadvantage in case they run same gear ration as belt drive cars.

Default Torque steer

Considering the awesomatix a700 ffg/rfg and xpress at1 ffg/rfg systems to counter torque steer. Will the tb evo 8 have issues with torque steer?

For that matter, why is torque steer not an issue with 4wd buggies? How is it an issue only for onroad shaft drive cars?

Buggies are generally heavier, their wheels have a larger gyro effect, so are less susceptible to the inertia of the rotor.

I'd expect the Evo 8 to have mild torque steer with a powerful motor.

They do torque steer, it's just not easily perceptible as the surface is moving about underneath them. Try a 4wd shafty on high grip astro with a mod motor, it'll torque steer.

To get the lower IR number, the diffs need to get smaller or the input gear needs to get bigger.

Ironically, Tamiya used to have lower gear ratios in the brushed era. Evo4 gears had 2.2 ratio and they could be fitted into Evo5/TB03 gearbox (which moved to 2.43), with some mods. But I'm not sure if they worked with gear diffs, plus they are getting harder to find.

But I think there was a reason behind the slower gear ratio - reducing torque transmitted through the shaft to reduce twisting of the chassis.
