Which motor layout are you using? We have an upcoming parking lot race and wondering if rear motor layout is better for low/med grip?

I use the front motor layout.

I recon kit setup might be pretty good for low grip asphalt, it generates so much grip.

Anyone racing on Asphalt with this car? Looking for a decent starting setup. Can’t seems to get mine to work properly. The rear is always loose and comes around. Tried a few things that were suggested but can’t seem to get it right.

Im sussing out buying this car but If i where you id try Increase front droop of the car to put more weight on rear tires around corners. Maybe try stiffer suspension in the front and significantly softer in the rear of the car too. But try one thing at a time until you figure out what is helping and what isnt.

I have a similar issue, I find the windows of it being well balance is very small. My main problem is turn in over-steer, over rotation. The current F-R weight balance is 51.9 to 48.1. I use a shorty as I am already over weight, (~1380g total) and I am thinking of moving the battery further back to achieve more of a 50-50 F-R weight balance.

I find most of the time it runs well with new tyres. I cannot swap tyres front to back, back to front to maximize tyre life.

I have tried stiffer front springs but it not really help, decreasing the rear droop seems to have helped a little I am going to try shifting weight back to see if it helps.

Ywh to be fair I do get quite alot of rotation and lots of oversteer, but I use that to my advantage on our indoor track. I can imagine outdoor it might be quite difficult.
You could try running the rear end a little wider, might give a bit more stability but loose some rotation

I just built mine to rear and noticed the wheels spins more freely than front. It can spin for a good 5 seconds compared to 3ish seconds. Stock kit bearing but using 1up bearing oil. My lap times are the same but slightly a few tenths faster with the rear setup but overall the car rotates the same on track (parking lot asphalt)

Interesting, I guess that's because the rear motor setup is more direct, there's only 1 drivshaft.

I might swap it over tonighttonight was mainly worried about loosing rotation with the rear setup.

Does it still have similar amounts of steering?

I'm using the same setup that I had with the front mount and did notice more wear in right rear tire but still the car handled literally the same. I probably tweaked it why changing the layout so will get the setup station up to see what changed. Overall I think I'll stay with the rear motor setup it just gives me the Evo 5 nostalgia all over again

oh and also I'm using the TB05 aluminum diff housing w/ metal gears along with shimming everything just right helped make it spin more freely. Yeah for some reason it does look better and cleaner with electronics with the rear setup

Yeh I'm running the ally diff and steel gears, the plastic ones didn't last very long.

I'm hoping itl be less prone to tweak with the flex point been at the rear with a shorter rear deck, we shall see.
