Exclamation Soldering Iron performance loss

Guys;

I have a fairly new Hakko 927 Soldering Station and have recently noticed a loss in the heat output for a given setting. got any Ideas on how to correct? Everything looks clean and is tight.

Thanks,

On the Hakko, there is the tip, a sleeve and then the ceramic element.

What can happen is that the sleeve may separate from the tip, no longer giving a good contact, instead acting as somewhat of an insulator.

To check - take off the tip and see if the sleeve comes apart from the tip. If it does, replace the tip. They should not come apart.

Default It's my thread!

Manticore;

I started the thread so I should be able to send it off topic. Besides Boomer is an old racing buddy and he did give me the answer that I was looking for. Was just showing some gratitude by sending him that copy of Rev-Up he's been looking for all these months.

Still haven't gotten it yet. . .I think the postman is getting a hernia hauling all that extra postage around with her (she's a cute post"man" - almost makes me wish I were around the house when she delivers. . .)
