I have never understood why some people connect freedom with being stupid. It isn't you "right" to be stupid. If you are stupid and do stupid things, then you need to be protected from harm by people who are smarter then you. doing stupid things don't make you cool, a man or free. It is just doing stupid stuff. Paragone is bad for you health, PERIOD! Smoking is bad for your health, PERIOD! Smoking crack is bad for your health, PERIOD! If you don't agree with me, then please explain why the connection between freedom and doing stupid things. Use real facts and not anecdotal BS.

Geez!

CypressMidWest-> If you don't like this thread, you don't have to read it. Same argument people make about not racing if you don't like paragon. (makes sense doesn't it?)

Hey..

I think it is good that this topic creates so much debate. The more we talk about it, the more people become aware of the harmful chemicals we use in our hobby.

I am all for freedom and the ability to make your own decisions. So let us make our own decision to fight this issue, if you are a believer in freedom.

There has been a number of posts making the argument that we should not try to improve the safety of this hobby because there are so many other things in our lives that are not safe....are you kidding me...do you realize how stupid that sounds. Life is not all or nothing....it is about doing what you can to make things better.

Exclamation

That's it, after reading all the replies stating that it is an issue of choice and not manufacturer responsabilty, I have come to the following decision, from now on I will start smoking CRACK before every race, and I will do this in front of other people so they may share in my stupidy.

Hey I'm going to die some time what;s the difference.

Now here is a stupid statement that can be made baseed on the replies posted not in favor of stopping the use of Sauce.

Not one good reason has been offered as to why we should continue the use of the product, christ even NASCAR stop using leaded fuel tthis year.

IT IS CALLED PROGRESS, it should not be confused with the freedom of choice.

Are there any traction compounds like TQ8, or just any kind that is safe?

The manufacturers of the products them selves would need to replay to that.
Here is a money making opertunity. Lets review People complain about Paragon and Many eevents ban the use, now if a manufacturer where to produce a healthy alternative the the ban of the toxic product would take place. Another option is to ban the use. If no one uses sauce then we are back to an even playing field.

I blieve it is a safe bet that most of the manufacurers of the sauce have no clue on what the effect would be. If they did they would be defending the product. I would love to be wrong and get back to racing in the D-main.

NO Sauce Racing

There are so many examples in all industries where manufacturers replace a toxic substance with a non-toxic one, or at least one that is much less toxic. If it works 95% as well, where is the problem?

The best example in rc so far is pactra paint. It used to be thinner based, now it is water based. Which one is safer? Which one is better?

How about lead solder (which europe and japan have banned?) Lead free solder is stronger, has less resistance, and is not toxic (the flux is an irritant.)

The same would happen here. There would be a non-toxic or far less toxic compound that would come out in a short time. Hell you could even give niftech, paragon, trinity, etc a few months to develop and test something else. Say a ban goes into effect 7/1/2007.
