Default 25.5T touring car

This seems to be a new class I have seen pop up at my local track. It is basically 21.5T with 25.5T motors. Just curious if other tracks are heading this way. I think it is to provide the slightly slower guys with a chance to race TC ( or keep us out of the 21.5T class ).

I wonder if this will grow? That would make 3 TC classes from what I can see, and was wondering if that is just watering down racing, or something that could really become legit.

Thoughts?

May end up being the new "stock" some day, who knows. What I do know, vta cars at my track turn the same times that we did back with 27t brushed motors and foam tires.

Hope this doesn't become a thing. How much slower do people want to go?

USGT has been great for entry / good competition. 21.5 TC a step up and 17.5 after that.

25.5 TC would be painful lol..

25.5TC has been raced yearly at the Snowbirds for awhile now, so it is a class. Painful is like anything else matter of perspective

perfect beginner class for rookies and novice most likely 13 years old or younger seems like a perfect speed for little kids that want to start in the hobby

We already have Stock (21.5), Super Stock (17.5) and Mod. Adding this 25.5 class makes FOUR separate TC classes. If it woks for your local group, then great. That being said, I sure hope this stays purely local.....we don't need yet another class on the national level.

more classes but no new racers... dumb... you have several slower classes incl VTA, Euro Truck, and USGT.... pick one and race... making another stupid TC class to keep slow guys out of the way of faster racers is just crazy

It is not painfully slow by any means, but slower no doubt. The issue I see is, the really fast guys, and pretty much the entire group that races, only race 21.5T TC.

So you have the really fast guys racing that class, but not racing 17.5T like before. So in this situation all the 17.5T guys moved to 21.5T, USGT on a weekly basis is NON existent, and VTA is just not a cup of tea I want to try. It is an hour drive for me, so one class of Euro Truck defeats the purpose of spending 6 hours at the track to race 4 6 min races.

Disclaimer as this is just my opinion

Not sure why the fast guys moved from 17.5T to 21.5T ( I have not been racing until the last 3 weeks due to Covid ) but it kinda took the wind out of my sails getting back up to speed with the pace, when you have to be point on even in 21.5T. Our 21.5T is dominated by the latest and greatest motors, chassis, and drivers.

So now I am buying a new $100 motor to try and stay up to speed so I am not asked to move to a different class. I'm a pretty decent driver, just happen to race at one of the fastest facilities in the Southeast.

The fast guys moved down because the motors have gotten progressively faster.. at carpet nats there was only 0.5s/lap difference between 21.5 and mod tc.

Itís probably time for the classes to be re evaluated again, like when they shifted from 17.5/13.5 to 21.5/17.5

you are correct when the indoor track sizes a 40x80 but out here in florida where we race on outdoor nitro tracks 21.5 25.5 are way to slow and well over a 1.5-3 seconds difference in laps between mod-17.5, usgt

heres our outdoor Florida tracks 25.5 you will fall asleep on the back straight pretty much you could glue your throttle wide open

Ghartman581 and gigaplex like this.
