In regard to a "run what you brung" class, we tried that about 8 years ago. The only and I mean ONLY rule was that you had to run the HPI 4793 and 4797 tires. Since off-road cars run 12mm hexes, people could've bolted TC wheels onto their off-road vehicles and be legal. No one did. One thing that we DID have was lots of motor choices. A 13.5 motor can put a hurting on VTA tires on grey carpet. Eventually, the majority of folks ended up running 21.5 motors with a variety of bodies. The track where we did this didn't last (Bush River R/C, the home of Swamp @$$), but I believe that Kannapolis Raceway Park is running something close. I called it "Rat Rod" at Bush River. They call it "Carolina Hot Rod" at Kannapolis.

I've never understood why people are always in such a hurry to get done and leave.

After working Saturdays for most of the past 35 years. I’m more the willing to spend the day at the track. But I’ve only got a hour drive each way. I race off road with a number that were driving 2-3 hours each way. Many times they’d have to leave as the mains were starting

I have definitely put VTA tires on my Short Corse. It was a very entertaining way to break them in. Sauce... Donuts ... Repeat
