Wow! That's nicely detailed...didn't Tamiya advertise their cars as "scale models suitable for radio control"? Everything about this car looks to be as scale as you can get!

Where’s the motor? Inside the model motor?

Looks really cool. It's got a 2845 size motor. There's no where else for it other than inside the 3d printed motor.
But at $750 USD, I don't know how many they will sell. |
It definately looks cool and is super spot on for realism. Though for the high $750 price tag and that it's extremely fragile with 3d printed parts (Not to mention the weight), this will likely be a show car you can run, but not race or let alone drive very fast with others

Yes as Tim noted it's $715 AUD hence ~$530USD - plus Pre-Order discount code: PREORDER67 for 10% off. Yes 'Motor' is in the 'motor' - correct! :weird: And yes a little 2845 brushless hides inside the scale engine area. Resulting speed is slightly less than an F1 21.5 blinky - just right for maximum fun and close racing. You can just see the top of the can poking through and shaft/pinion exposed with the gearbox removed in this shot: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rct...e30ac22eef.jpg For your basic 3D printing materials like PLA and PETG - you are right! They are stiff but very brittle and hence useless for the impacts of RC! However the 3D printed parts in this car are mostly Carbon fibre or Glass fibre reinforced Nylon as well as a Polycarbonate blend for some others. 3D printing has come a long way actually in recent years so that nowadays a given part from the same material will be almost as strong as it's injection moulded equivalent. Therefore with the use of those latest reinforced materials combined with the latest printing machine technology, this car is actually equal or stronger than other plastic RC cars. Crash testing has been performed, some even deliberate! ......ok you got me, mostly not deliberate. And Yes...plastic will break with enough impact/force! LOL The weak points found were redesigned and beefed up accordingly to make them as strong as possible. We hope to see a bunch of these racing soon - will look awesome cruisin' around our local tracks! The production method, being 3D printed or injection moulded or machined etc has no influence in terms of "made to order" actually! And no, this kit is not made to order. Currently production is underway with kits shipping from February 2021 onwards... :nod: Hope this info helps...keep the questions coming! |

Is it the photo or is that pinion gear not complete? Looks like some of the gear teeth have not been cut.

Spares Yes, all spare parts, and some initial colour options for entire car will be available - they will be progressively added to the shop over the coming weeks... Pinion Ha! kind of! ;) The base part (for the grub screw) doesn't go the full 360 degrees to allow the gearbox to detach off the back in one piece with the lower front spur gear needing to slide out along the length of the pinion teeth, else it would be trapped that would otherwise make disassembly inconvenient! |
