How does the Sphere compare in size and footprint to the GTB??? I love my brushless in my 12th, I just hate that it's hanging off the chassis....

So for those who own the "2007 Edition" what are your initial comments and reviews?! Other than expanding and giving a few more variations on the mode selection, etc. is it reliable and relatively problem free as compared to the original Sphere or even Sphere Comp?! Exactly what software upgrades does it have from the previous version?! Thanks!

I've had mine in a XX4 for two meetings. It's run perfectly. Its not been close to getting hot, never mind thermalling. It comes off at about 55 C, this is without running a heatsink or fan and the new 5.5 Motor. The most useful feature of it is the ability to see how close (or far) to thermalling you are after your run.

This is my first brushless system so I have nothing to compare it with.

I have 2... 1 in my 1/12 and 1 in my TC... they work awsome, didnt have any shutdown on them yet. Also used with a 4.5t LRP brushless they work awsome. Great power and verry adjustable to any application.

I have a problem with my Sphere Competition. The speed still working well but the I can't open the mode programming. I press the mode button more than 3 secs. and it doesn't work. The Setup mode works well. I've already used the mode programming once, changing the mode1 (4-7 cells nimh) and the mode 2 to smoth low traction because I have a RC12L4 and run on dusty alphalt. I've tried again and it simp´ly doesn't work. Does anybody can help me?

Since you mention you run on dusty asphalt, there may be just some dust inside the mode push button which prevents the contact. Try using compressed air to blow out everything, if that does not help already you can try cleaning it with motor cleaner (check on case first if it does not attack the plastic).
I'm pretty sure this will solve your problems.

Not true, I have a 2007 strapped into my xxx-cr, but have yet to run it.

Here in the states they aren't available till Mid-January I think he means.

Mid January should be interesting for the brushless scene here in the US. The Tekin, LRP and Novak (4 cell GTB) are all due out. Tough decision to make...I think I'm going to go with whoever hits the shelves first.

Although not small enough for us to get our Sphere Comp's sooner than Mid-January. I still don't understand that. AE is the importer right? What's the deal with the delay?

Hi to all...

I would like to know, what's your's opinions about the diferences beteween 5 cell (1350g) racing and 6 cell (1500g) racing, concerning ratio and motor's choice.
I'm from Portugal, and for 2007 the pilots can chose one or another(5cell or 6cell)...There's no motor limit...
My plans is to use LRP Brushless power, but i don't have certain about the 5 cell(1350g) or 6 cell(1500g)...
In your opinion, what's the best choice?

Thank's in advance

Hey, Burrito!

I think you are kind of like the LRP rep here on RC-Tech and I have a question for you.

Our local carpet track just had a two day event and allowed the Novak 13.5 in stock for TC and 1/12 and the Novak 4300 for 19T in both classes. Only the Novak motors where allowed. I heard that the LRP Sphere would work with the Novak motors and I prefer to use the LRP Sphere if for no other reason than it is much smaller and lends itself to 1/12th better than the Novak GTB. I ran the car at a couple of tune up races before the two day event without any issues except for one incident in the main at the last tune up race. At the start of the main, when the horn sounded, I yanked the throttle but the car just jumped can just coasted a few feet. I had steering but no throttle. After a few seconds, the throttle came back on and I took off in hot pursuit of the field only to have the same thing happen again the next lap when accelerating out of a tight corner where the momentum of the car went low to negotiate this corner. The speed control never got hot, likewise the motor. We temped the motor at 98 degrees. This LRP Sphere was one of the early Competition versions.

For the two day race I built an additional car so I would not have to swap motors from the 13.5 to the 4300 between the two classes. In the new car I put the 4300 with one of the early versions of the Sphere. This car started doing the same thing right from the first time on the track. It would loose the throttle several times each lap. I added a larger cap thinking that would cure it but it only reduced the number of times it would cut off each lap. So…

My question to you is it an incompatibility issue between the Novak motors and the LRP ESC?

Question

Are you setting your Sphere on the sportsman mode ?
