Default Power tab

the positive tab on the back of the speedo appears to have split in two, the wire came right off with the outer section of the tab still soldered attached to the wire.
After that there was not enough exposed tab (circuit board) to solder the wire back on.

It's not like most other speedos where the circuit board run all the way accross without any gaps in between the soldering holes.

Just sent it back to LRP hoping they will fix it. Only got to use for several packs.

Burito,

I haven't had this happen before in 1/12th scale, didn't think it was possible.

I've got an 80700, newest version. I'm not running any kind of insane motor, just the x-11 7.5 rolled out to 29.7mm, and that ain't much roll out. I can't physically run any smaller pinions or bigger spurs. This is the slowest I can make this car (and it's by no means slow). Pinion any smaller, no teeth will hit. Spur any bigger and it's bigger than the tires and dragging in the carpet. 40mm rear tires with 22/94 gearing on Corally sp12x.

Track is smallish with a LOT of corners so I've been running a lot of drag brake to get the car to turn in.

settings, 2-3-2-6

Am running the cap.

Track is 6.2-6.4 seconds for a lap, and I am on and off the throttle 7 times minimum per lap, sometimes as high as 10 with a "blip" here and there.

It thermal'd tonight at about 5 minutes. First time I've had it in 4-cell. Motor and esc were good and warm, but by no means hot. I thought in the 115-125 degree range. Speedo seemed warmer than the motor.

I need the drag brake to help get the car setup for the corner. I have a different car with the Novak 8.5 in it with the same ESC, so far, no thermal on that one, but rolled out a LOT harder, and it's fine. 26/94 on a 41mm tire. They turn similar lap times, but the 7.5 is substantially faster on the straight.

Ideas?

Thanks,
-Bob

I ran the LRP with the 4300, But if I didn't run the heat sink it would thermal. weird HUH? I would throw the heat sink on and all was good. Once I put the heat sink on I started having trouble with it not thermaling the motor.
And burned a 4300 up. Then another racer at the track burnt one up to.
The LRP wont thermal the motor but it will the speedo. Do you have the heat sink on? I would recommend a fan and or a capacitor. And the heat sink no matter what.

Rock stock outta the bag, whatever that is.

This might just be a case where the motor is just to much for the track. It's short. Here's a quick youtube video of it for reference. track is 24x50, with 6 foot lanes. Pretty typical small, carpet track. The car in the video is the xray 1/12th touring car, 4 cell, 9 turn.

I set our track record tonight (no easy feat, I have maybe 20,000 laps on that layout) and I did it with the Novak 8.5 rolled out 38.5mm. I'm very close to that with any of the 19 turns as well, and most brushed stuff down to 12 turn.

Sphere settings on that speedo (80500) 2-3-2-2

Bob a case with me at the track we race is drag and initial brake settings on speedo!! I used to race with 2 on initial and automatic brake but as soon as i decreased to 0 the temperature was decreased too from 70 maybe to 55-60!!
also i don't use any initial or quick throtles to the transmitter!! try it and you will understand.
The setting that LRP/nosram uses like you said just out of the bag is the better setting for the motor , anything more or less will cause troubles , or so tells my experience on brushless!!

I always use even with the first competition version, capacitors and i used to use the big one from worlds kit for QC2, also i use the heatsink and fan!!

always the motor passes the temp to the speedo , as soon as temp starts to increasing , so the motor is safe but the speedo has TSD. But this doesn't mean that your prob is the speedo , it may be the motor or the gearing too.
