Cracked lipo battery case: use the battery or toss it?
I have a lipo battery with its plastic case slightly cracked. The battery is not puffed and IR readings look normal. Tape the battery and keep using it or toss it?

It's unfortunate when it happens, but at that point, it's best to recycle it. I had once had a new battery that I accidentally dropped like 3 ft and the case cracked...I immediately discharged it and sure enough, it started to puff up on the way to home depot to recycle it. I would say to keep it in a fire proof bag and don't keep it somewhere flamable, you wouldn't want to start another fire like how California is burning up right now.

It should take a decent hit to crack the case, but if it does, it would be best to not use it...

it would all depend on how case was cracked .how was case cracked?

Most likely I over tightened the battery or did not tighten it enough and it was moving when I was driving the car.

Fiber tape can work if the pack never puffed...
