Default Few Q's

Just getting into the electric RC stuff. I've had a nitro 1/8 truck for a while now and though its fun, its also a bit of trouble at times. I went out and picked up an HPI Sprint 2 for the hellz of it. It came with a "Nosram" 1800mah nicd pack and a wall charger that takes six friggin hours. I've looked at a few chargers such as the Duratrax ICE, Superbrain 969, and others. What would you suggest for a newb charger and some good longer lasting packs? Also, just wondering; could is use nimh (right?) packs in my car and would that make a difference? Any other input that might help a newb like me out is welcome as well Thanks!

I can recommend the LRP Pulsar Competition 2 Charger or the Team Orion Advantage Battery Charger for NiCD, NiMH, and Li-Po cells (new Advantage version also includes LiPo). Check Stormer Hobbies or Tower for reasonable prices...

You should also get yourself 2-3 packs of NiMH (3300, 3700 or 4200 MAh) or maybe even the new Team Orion Li-Po cell (4800 MaH) which will give you fantastic run times...

With this you will also do the charging in 30-60 minutes

So I can use other packs besides NiCD? I take it NiMH and Li-Po will give longer run times on average then NiCD? I ran the car for a bit this morning and I like it, it *seems* as fast as my Genesis nitro and its a hell of a lot less hassle.

The motor in the car is a Nosram Tornado 17x2 if that helps any.

I got the ICE and i love it. I now people who don't like the super brain who are trying to get the ICE. Get urself some NIMH packs above the 3000mAh rating and you'll have some fun. You can pick up and ICe for about $140, less on some sites. Best bang for your buck.
