icantdrivetc5, Your definition of a decent size track and someone else's might be different. If you could let us know the track name or the dimension's it would help us.

If anyone is looking to pickup a TC5 click here. I just don't have time to race anymore so it is time for me to move on.

is it a good idea to put CA glue on the edge of the chassis?

I have heard of people doing it, I did it on the ITF chassis when I changed it out.

I'm going to try this next time out because as of right now I;m at 2deg toe. What about track width. I've noticed my car is not 190mm, it's about 186. Does everyone run like this? The only shims I have on the car are the ones adjusting the rear toe in. I wondering should I widen it.

Well you should CA the battery slots if you are running nimh batteries to keep them from shorting out on the chassis. Most CA the edges of the chassis to keep it from splitting. I don't. I just lightly file the edges to take the sharp corner off then run loctite around it to darked the edge. I've never had a problem only doing that and it looks great.

When building the tc5r i am not sure of a couple of things on the rubber setup sheet.

do you put any Inboard toe on the front arms?

also is the 1.5 degree on the alignment of the front toe refer to toe out?
by turning the links?

or inboard toe?

the 1.5* is in the links. there should be no toe shims on the arms mounts. ive seen people run toe shims on the front pair of front mounts, but ive never seen a tc5 setup sheet with this adjustment.

I ran my car on carpet with at least the 1.5 degree shims on the front. I always felt my car was easier to drive this way all the time. I would recommend that you give it a try.

I usually run a 1.5 degree spacer on both front arm mounts.... I found that the slightly wider track width just calmed down the front of the car and made it a little easier to drive.......

However last few meetings I have struggled for enough front end bits and taking these spacers out helped in this situation

Also be careful when running shims on the front arm mounts because the driveshafts sit further out on the outdrives.

Does any one run spacers on the rear mounts other than the ones used for toe?

no, but if you look at some of the factory driver setups you will see the run spacers between the wheel and the hex to widen the car out. the advantage of that is you get the wider car w/o altering any of the susp. geometry that would occur with widening the car using arm shims

I usually use metal shims instead of the stock plastic clips...The clips are fine to use, they will just break down over the long-run a little bit...

As long as you are using the stock wheelbase shims there should not be any binding when using 3deg. inboard toe....and dont worry about the arm mounts being "stretched"....they will be ok.

Hope that answers your question...
