Just made the decission to update my trusty old TC4 to a TC5R..

What difference should I expect after driving shaft drives for sooo long and then going to belt drive???

Any set up tips.....my track is two concrete netball courts.

Cheers

First off, i've been out of the touring car thing for a little while, but what's the difference between the TC5 and TC5R? When i went from a TC4 to a TC5, the biggest difference i noticed was the power delivery, especially with a brushless setup. Much much smoother and more controlable power delivery cause the belt stretches and absorbs some of the torque. The car just handles much better then the TC4, it turns more. Much better car over all. My only complaint is that for a touring car it does have a bit of slop in the suspension components compaird to the X-Ray and Corally cars.

a spool you dont have any diff action, (this is a very popular set up for running rubber tires on asphalt)

There's a much more to this but in short, here's couple things...

Spool/Solid axle, both front wheels are locked, and spin together at the same time and speed, while the diff allows each wheel to spin each at different rate independent of each other. The diff will give you a bit more steering on corner entry, but the spool car can accelerate harder out of corners, and less maintanance, which is why most pros and joes run Spools for outdoor asphalt racing. Over the years racers have found out that running a front spool/solid axle is faster over all.

GET THE TC5. much smoother car. VERY stable in and out of turns. when you punch it out of a turn all the car wants to do is go straight and turn when you want it to on a dime. and not to spin out out of turns or in turn ins. NO more traction role. since the chassis is narrow the car is much more able to go straight at high speeds and not to spin out.
