+1 for the Boca bearings. I prefer to use the Green Seals just because there is no maintenance.

what's the benifit of using the aluminum diff over the stock one?

performance is better in the fact that it's more consistent. The plastic outdrives can melt under stress.

The aluminum diffs are sweet, but i will say my plastic diffs held up for like 3 months straight. I only took them out because I put the aluminum ones in.

Seriously, they are excellent. No problems, ever. All foam tire racing too.

Just make sure that you run the plastic ones a little tighter especially if you are running anything hotter than a stock motor. If you run them loose you will slip a diff ring and this is what causes them to melt. You could always glue the rings to the plastic pieces but only if you don't like to run a tight diff.

For me, the plastic help up fine until I decided to see how loose I could run the diff with a 10.5. Needless to say I burned it up.

Pete..Like I posted...the stock plastic nut retainers work fine in the aluminum diffs. cost $4.95. I've not cracked or broke any, I just replace every couple of rebuilds for good measure. Yes, there is play between the plastic "ears" and the aluminum outdrive blade slots, but that wont matter once they are tightened. Come see me at SIR and I'll put one together for you. I get 40+ runs with them no prob.

In the beginning I melted two sets... then I got the settings right and have had no problem with the composite outdrives (and I bought the aluminum outdrives too... just never had to use them when I 'got it right').

RobK's post on the set up they were using for the Novak races shows that they used Losi 56 and 57 pistons in the shocks......I really dont want to buy anything from horizon so which of the AE shock pistons is the closest to those. I tried it with the #3 and the car handled very well although it was still pushing in the high speed sweepers which caused my car to be a little slower than the Xrays who seem to hold the line better. All the tight corners the car was right there so I think I could be faster if I could hold the line in those sweeping turns. I think maybe I need to be a little closer on the pistons and see if that doesnt fix it.
