Rubber spikes, if you take a look at the pics I posted above, you can see them. It's like an ice racing tyre, the grip is really low, any normal slick tyre is like a drift tyre on asphalt.

Just an update on my experience with Leg Iron's UK bulkheads. After I damaged the motor mount bulkhead in a horrific crash which also broke my bumper mount and top deck Greig contacted me and offered a free replacement that was superficially blemished that in his opinion was not good enough for sale. I got the replacement last week and in my opinion the blemish was not enough to not sell it as it's not visible when the bulkhead is mounted but Greig clearly has very high standards in his workmanship and stands behind his product. I raced with the bulkheads again yesterday on my very loose and dusty parking lot track which has a lot of hair pin turns. The UK bulkheads allow me to change direction a lot easier now as they've shaved about 85-90g off my overall weight since I no longer need to run a weight tray to balance the car and they use 3 less screws than stock. Before running this time I'd put my car back to almost the base asphalt rubber tire settings in the manual with the only difference that I run my rear diff as low as possible. The diff cams need adjusting to tighten the belts with the lowered layshafts. Currently I'm running a 13.5 with 87/24 48P gears and the car handles amazingly now. There are about 4 other TC5r's at my track and I'm able to keep ahead and pass them with ease. Once I can keep the power under control I can pass all the cars at the track with ease now The Tekin v203 combo helps with that but the handling of my car is significantly better than the other cars now and it's a lot lighter too. I had some crashes yesterday as is usual in TCs and the motor mount bulk head took it all ok, even after I got nudged off the track and snapped a front arm the bulkhead looks ok.

If you've been thinking about getting one of these bulkheads go for it. They work really well and Greig stands behind his product. He's really fast with getting them in the post as well.

hi
the bulkheads move the motor into the centre of the car by 5mm and lower the spur gear by 5mm. all in all helping the balance of the car.

thanks greig

Everybody is running them as loose as possible to reduce friction. Some are running aftermarket belts that make it even looser

Thanks Bryan. I read elsewhere on this TC5 topic to run the belt as loose as possible without slipping. That is what prompted my "What is too loose?" question. Rc pete gave me a static method to check belt tension. I will fine tune when I get TC5 on the track.
