Really the best way to do it is to figure out how much weight you have to offset and build the pieces to match your car. Everyone typically runs different electronics and motors so it is best to build your own based on your own needs. Try to place the weight as low as you can get it...under the battery is a good place, and I try to keep all of my weight inside the chassis line. Everyone is a little different!

That is exactly what this weight will do for you. The concealed channel lets you add up to 1.75oz of addditional weight that comes with it, and it's out of sight once mounted.
Its flush to chassis edge and will not dent or lose form like lead because its polished stainless steel.

I had my first race with my TC5. We run in parking lot and use foams. I had absulutley no traction. I have the stock chassis. What can do to get more traction, using stock chassis? I am currently using the box setup. I am using a HPI Lotus body. Should I use softer oil or springs? I need a setup for low to medium traction on asphalt. Please help me!

forget the set-up for now, you need a better body with more downforce like a protoform stratus, mazda 6 ,mazdaspeed 6 and DNA1. That body is not known for its downforce and is probably the reason why car is not handling very well. As far as set-up goes I would say look up the tc5r set-up because that is a asphalt set-up that should work alright.

If you are running the stock setup witch is a foam carpet setup, the first thing you should do is get the spring kit pt#3988 and start with silvers in the rear and blue up front...that will help alot because you are way too stiff right now...

So basically I need to soften my setup? I was also looking at using just the ITF top deck. I have the part number for the washers, but what is the part number for the screws? I will also go to 35 weight oil all around with blue and silver springs. I really like the look of the lotus body, do you think the proline high downforce wings will help it? I still have the high downforce wing from a old Hot bodies mazda body. i may try that. I hate to dump the new body after only one race.

3 questions:
1: What compound tire did you use?
2: Did you use traction additive, and what kind?
3: Was anything added to the track surface (sugar water, coke syrup, etc.)?

Foam tire 35/37
No traction additive for tires
Soda was sprayed on track.

Yes. You need to soften the car. ITF topdeck and chassis when you can. The o-ring trick on the 4 rear topdeck screws will help to. get some 3x8 and some 3x10mm screws for that and some washers. Just get a Protoform Mazda 6 body....it is the best overall for rubber tire..

I had a feeling this was it. Cover your rears completely and the inside 1/2 of the fronts about 20 min. before each race and let it sit. In the old days we used suntan lotion...

For rubber tire asphalt 99% of the time we sauce the whole front.

I'm planning on getting a 13.5 brushless system, with 3800 Nimh batteries. What pinion gear should I use with the stock spur?
