I have some Kydex bumpers on a couple of my touring cars. I read in the ROAR rules that metal bumpers are illegal. The kydex protruding under the lip of the body splitter really provides longevity to the body shell. Is such kydex bumpers legal at national events?

No bumper can extend from under the body. Kydex with foam on top also works You just shoe goo the foam to the kydex and shape it to fit.

I used some white hobby plastic about 1/8" thick with foam glued to the top sticking out about 1/4". A little work with a dremel and done. Worked so well I made 5 similar for my fellow racers that could be mounted to their cars.

My Kydex bumper does not extend from under the body. The bumper is cut to the inside radius of splitter on a BayBee body. The body/ splitter lays on to of the bumper. I'll post a picture when I reach the magic number of post.

Picture of body over splitter. It has no absorption so it is probably illegal. Sure is solid and saves the front body work.

I like using it. It supports the body very well and keeps the splitter in form when I hit something. It has foam on the topside next to the front bodywork. Also, no deformation/ tearing in the front wheel wells. My question is legality. In the spirit of the rules, I don't think so as it will not deform on impact. I'll come up with something else.
