Has anyone tried the red endbell gravity motor with rubber tires? From what Iíve understood that red motor is designed for 1cell lipo while the black usgt motor is designed with 2cell lipo use.

ThunderDome in Morris, Illinois run the red endbell USGT motor. Iíve also run the standard USGT motor. Iím about even with both. At first thought there was a bigger difference.

I got better lap times with the red endbell motor after back to back comparison, even played around with gearing but the red endbell motor had a slight edge. This is only a single data point though with my testing...

No ... the Red end bell is meant for the Oval racers on 1S, it has more timing per Oval drivers crying.
The black one on road uses is the normal for big event spec motor racing.

Both can be used on 1s or 2s .... neither are designed for a specific lipo size.

There was some talk about using the red endbell motor as the standard motor for the class but it was decided to stick with the black endbell motor as more people had it already. The more this class is standardized the better it will be. Thatís my opinion.

Actually if you ask Paul the black endbell motor was setup and designed around 2S and he never anticipated it would work in 1S as well as it does. But he does feel the red one may be better suited for 1s applications with more timing in it. We've spoke about it when we were looking at making the red motor the one in GT12 but ultimately decided to stick with the black one due to everyone already having them.

we tested the exact same thing here at 180, found that the red end bell, was slighlty different , but not enough for a gearing change from current USGT motor
We are still running the experiemental motors from Motiv from 2016 they are 17.5 , spec timed and marked. we have 22 of them and use them as handouts.
we also stuck with foam tires ..
internally contemplating changes for this season..

Why don't you guys tell everyone they have to use the same tire, the same gearing, the same chassis, the same body, the same setup, the same ESC, the same servo. Or, you can make it open motor and get back to the spirit of competition and racing.
