Default Sorex Rubber Tires

Summer is approaching, I will be running my Tamiya cars on a clean one year old asphalt track. Are Sorex tires good for that condition? Also, do they last long?

I am new to outdoor electric racing, so I need to know if these are the right tires.

How well a tire works and how long they last varies from track to track. I know at SoCal, we run Sorex 36R's mainly. A tire that you would normally think of as a high temp tire. We run them indoors in both hot and cold weather. They just happen to work there. Also, they'll last a good 5-6 runs without dropping off at all. In fact, you need to scrub them in once before you race them. And beyond 6 runs, you can get a good 5 more out of them at least as practice tires. On the other hand, I know the boys down in Florida have told me that on the tracks they have there, Sorex tires are a one run tire, period.

i run them till they show the inner lining. then use them as practice tires.

that will last over 4 race meets in stock. and prob 3 race meets in mod.

Yep it depends on the track and class you are running. Mod guys here can get 2 runs on a track but stock guys can get 6 months worth

Depends on what you call runs? you can sometimes get a whole heap of runs out of the tire before you see canvas, but generally it is only the first 2-3 runs where the tire actually has any decent grip. Go check your lap times most instances the car will be noticeably slower on subsequent runs.

It depends on how abrasive the track is as well.

In theory, yes. The only way to know for sure on your track is to try it.
