Default False Peak

I,ve recently returned to R/C racing after about a 14 year break and would like some insight into NMHI batteries. I bought a number of matched 6 cell IB 3800s from ProMatch and am very pleased with their performance. Night and day compared to what we were using in the early 90s. The question is they all false peak @ 8.54v - 8.55v. It usually takes 2 - 3 restarts to get them over this (hump). Is this normal for NMHI ? I'm using an MRC Super Brain 977 at 5amps and 30mv peak detect. I'm going by ProMatch recommendation of 120 - 130 deg. at peak and 25-30mv does the job for these packs. I get about 9.10 to 9.20v at peak. Any insight on this ?

8.55v dosnt sould close to a peak to me, perhaps set a lockout. That will have the charger charge for a set amount of MaH or Time (Minuites or mins and seconds)

whats wrong with 9.1v peak? that is fine. after it peaks it naturally drops back to 8.5v.

My 6 cell SMC IB 3800s after resting for a week seem to want to false peak once on the first charge of the day at about 800-1200mah and usually don't false peak during the second charge of the day. Never seem to catch the voltage before the peak but I believe it's around mid 8 volt range. This is with a Reedy Quasar Pro Charger set at 5 to 6.5A and if I remember right peak detect at 4mv/c or 24mv/pack.

They do seem to only false peak after I discharge and equalize the packs. If I charge them after a heat race or practice session they charge normally and seem to have a higher peak voltage with the same temp. range (120-130deg). Right now the batteries are all new with 6 runs each on them. The MRC 977 is new also. Maybe someone else has experianced this. I'm running IB 3800's from ProMatch.
