No, I met Mr. Tamiya at the Long Beach Grand Prix and showed him pictures of my modernized F201 and begged him to release a new version. His wife and my mother are from the same hometown, so as I kneeled on the floor like a Koga ninja in front of his master as he sat in his designated chair at the Tamiya area, I insisted that they release a new version of an independent suspension Formula car. I have pictures I took with him at that moment too.

Anyone know the legality of the rocker arms in board suspension in this car in the states since traxxas has a patent for it for their revo?

Soooooooo, are we thinking Reedy FT 21.5?

They are legal. This is Tamiya, not some shady company. Either the patent usage is covered in the product costs or they have their own design and geometry that they don't need to deal with patent issues outside of Japan.

The IFS patent Traxxas vs Tamiya is a joke! If anyone has that patent, it's the auto industry or aerospace. That design has been out for decades! Widen your perspective guys.

This is true. The IFS or push-rod/pull-rod suspension system has been and still being used for F1 cars since the 90s (developed in the 80s) and started to be used for road car such as the Enzo Ferrari since 2002. Lamborghini, Pagani, Koenigsegg, and other supercar/hypercar manufacturers are also using the same system. So Tamiya or Traxxas can not own a patent to this design because it's already a non-patent system that is already being used commercially.

For sure this is the successor to the F201 concept and Tamiya made a brilliant move to partner with Formula E. While Liberty Media has been very anal and overprotective about their branding rights, FormulaE has seized a great opportunity and Im sure this new platform will gain a big following. The fact that it piggybacks off of proven and available standard components from other cars like the TB05 and M07 will allow robust support for the platform, something the F201 lacked during its time. Despite the limited stock gearing options of the f201, once you upgraded to an aftermarket 3Racing chassis you were able to utilize the TB-01 .04 option spur gear with larger pinions as well. Im also interested in borrowing the TC-01 rear diff housing and repurpose for the f201 as the rear gearbox was a pain to service.
I will for sure try to adapt the TC-01 to fit the modern f1 car bodies but it seems like the front diff housing is very low to the chassis, which might skew the suspension angle setups. Nonetheless Im super excited and cant wait to build up a new car! Its been too long!

Oh and given the proportions of the TC-01 it looks like it would match the now 2022 aero changes that F1 will undergo, which will allow this platform to remain relevant for us folks who are obsessed with F1.
