What's the lightest weight anyone has a got TC01 down to?

Weight feels like its biggest problem when running as a touring car, I take there are no carbon chassis conversions around that allow ditching the large / heavy(ish) mouldings?

Lowest I got it to was 1518g and the minimum is 1500g.

UK weight limit is lower than that (1350g where im racing in at the mo!) Feels like a big penalty to carry that much extra in 17.5 blinky

Will do. Note, this body is not legal for TCS.

BTW, anyone else have issues with the internal diff gears stripping on this car?

I had my rear diff fail on me last weekend. First diff I’ve ever had break. Haven’t opened it to see what the issue exactly is yet though.

I stripped the planetary gears on mine. Entirely my fault as it was not shimmed correctly. I’m going to replace the internals with steel gears.

The Differentials are not very durable in stock form. This isuue goes back the line right to the TB-04 which was the first chassis with this type of diffs.
I have learned over the years that shimming does not really help to solve the problem, replacing the gears and cross axle with the metal hop ups parts is the only solution.
NutDriver and JoshuaRC10 like this.

I agree, the diffs don’t seem durable or smooth. Apart from steel gears, I bought the metal cross and the aluminum gear case to solve the problem.

Thanks guys, thats what I was leaning towards too. The diffs are so tiny and when you have a heavy car + 17.5 power + high traction black carpet = chewed up gears.

Very interesting that the gears get chewed up for carpet running. I have only been running on medium/high grip asphalt and my gears are okay, just leaking, but okay. Though the threads on the 4 screws that hold the diff case together do strip out on me, i just glue it back together.

Can you post pics of carpet chewed gears, I am curious to see it

Default TCS Gearing?

Hi guys,

Is there any limits on gearing for the GT-E class in TCS?

No limits, you can use any spur/pinion gear you want. It can be by any manufacture and I highly recomend 64pitch gears with the gear cover

Thanks! Hopefully I get some new gears in time for TCS this weekend.

how exactly is caster adjusted on this chassis? There is mention of adjusting that first before moving onto camber and toe. Can you please help me understand where to make the adjustment?

You can change caster by moving around the shims on the lower arm hinge pins. but I dont think there are too much adjustment you can make. Moving the shims behind the arm will give you more faster, in front give you less.
