Correct. The verdict is still out on the new un-raced (by the mass consumer) TC01. Tamiya always tries to push innovation. Sometimes they hit and sometimes they miss. (f201, TA06, TB05). they also cater to more than just pure racers. Some Rc buyers only play in their driveways and basements, so their 'cool' factor is high.

To stay on topic I like the look of the TC01 but won't be buying one, mostly because my wife doesn't understand why I need more toy cars when I have 17 already.

Off topic but its been mentioned a couple of times - is the TB05 bad? It looks good to me but I didn't need another, have the TA07. I just assumed the availability was hit and miss like the TA07 kits, and that the R is going to be released anytime soon now too. Or is it already a failed chassis?

Another cool kit from Tamiya. Can't wait to build this kit.

Call me crazy, but I have already ordered a TSU-06 servo (they are currently on sale at one of the well-known german rc online shops) and actually managed to source a TBLE-03S ESC to do a "Box Art TC-01" .
Maybe I'm lucky and can trace one of these Tamiya LF 2200 batteries. It seems that they are nearly impossible to find in Europe. Would be cool if someone can help me!

Promising, you can put whatever springs you want, wherever you want, the car still works the same lol

I will say this, the top cantilever 90 joints you will certainly not need at all in aluminum. From experience to an FGX, it only raises your center of gravity, weighs more than composites, and certainly will not make a difference strength wise as its a part that is very unlikely to break as a composite and do the job well.
The aluminum drive shaft for the rears, yea thats probably a need to get one, but the bottom arms aluminum, probably only better for the carpet tracks or if you want kick adjustments.

Finally, what i really wanted to see, the drive shaft internals
Looks like you can slide the motor to change gears, so thats a plus.
Interestingly, the rear and front center drive shafts are tilted up to clear the battery
On a good note, looks like you can use 64p gears, should be slightly quieter
Think I would rather mount an esc on the other side, would clear the steering better
Sadlly, looks like youll have to unscrew about 12 screws to comfortably switch a rear end gear diff

I dig the chassis as a Tamiya fan, as in it will work very well for what it is. But the body to me looks horrid lol.. TC lid on this chassis would be the way
