Default CK 25 Gearing

Hey guys i am new to the 1/12 scale world. So new as in i am building my first car.... i am going to be running 17.5 on med grip black carpet. Track dimensions are 80ft by 40ft. So not a super big track by any means. Trying to figure out where i want to be on gearing. Again running a 17.5 motor. I am going to buy every other 3 up and 3 down so i am looking for the starting point. So it you say 43/72 then i am going to buy 37, 39, 41, 43, 45, 47 49. So that way i have range from track to track.. I just dont know where to begin at. The kit comes with 72, 80, 88, 96 spurs.

Thank you for any help.

This sort of advice is best given by someone that has actually run at your track....have you asked anyone there?

For 12th scale you need to calculate your rollout due to the tires changing in diameter as they wear. Here is tool to help you out. https://www.tqrcracing.com/rc_tools/rollout.asp

As far as the rollout you need that is dependant on what motor you are running. I use a Trinity xfactor with a 82mm rollout at 36* of timing.

50/72 Should get you started. That said, your tire size plays into gearing in 12th scale. So get a roll-out calculator, plug your rear tire size in, and then get gearing based on what the motor builder recommends. Good luck.

72/50 as mentioned is a good start but it depends on motor and track size AND layout.

different motors like different gearing.
