Wheel Nuts

Need to buy some more wheel nuts. Not sure to stick with nylock or get the serrated ones. Either why, they'll be aluminium.

What's your preference, and why?

Thanks in advance!

Serrated have always been better for me, especially with spools. The alloy rc-specific nuts tend to have deeper serrations on them than generic steel ones.

In an pinch I make my own serrated nut. I take a Dremel with a cut off wheel and make vertical slits. I would just purchase new wheel nuts though...……….

Get serrated lock nuts ... best of both worlds!

https://www.amainhobbies.com/search?s=175rc+locknuts

That being said, lock nuts have a limits number of uses and non lock nuts you need to check make sure it tight enough.

All points considered.

Will order some serrated ones, and see how they go.

Thanks folks!

whether its serrated or nylock they both do the same thing. They increase friction to minimize the nut coming off. If you use the nylock over and over again the friction it adds will lower. You throw wheels away which might be a good argument for using simple serrated. Rather than throwing away nylock nuts.

My preference, steel nuts with serrations. They don't wear out like nylock or like aluminum serrations. Weight difference between steel and aluminum is not very much and the rotating inertia goes up by radius squared, so the nuts hardly contribute to that at all.

I have a set of the Arrowmax M4 titanium serrated wheel nuts and man you almost need an impact to take them off. Never have worn out for over 4 years.
