Default TC for 2020

I currently have a tc7.1, looking to change brands and was wondering what everyoneís thoughts and recommendations would be on the new 2020 TCís. Especially due to all the brands moving to the Mid Motor mounts.

It's crazy right now - wait 1-2 months then decide.

Depending on what you have for local support. Xray, Serpent and Awesomatix are probably the three top runners right now.

I agree with the above, and as DavidNERODease said - with the Serpent X20 on the verge of release (it has been mentioned that it might start shipping within the next month), it remains to be seen if this will be the new flagship TC, or whether itís just an updated offering of what was their ERYX (formerly 411) platform. Likewise, you can probably expect some kind of Ď20 refresh for the T4 relatively soon, especially with the wave of mid-motor/equal belt-length cars and update kits being released lately.

Wow...Yokomo didn't even get mentioned. I would say Awesomatix for carpet....Yokomo or Xray for pavement.

Yokomo BD10 should be out soon. But not a whole lot of information on it.

Most people that get into awesomatix cars jump right in and then get frustrated due to not understanding them or the tools/ect needed for them. Currently you can't not buy a mid motor car from them but just a conversation kit, soon however there will be a updated car that comes mid motor. I have three awesomatix cars and love them all, the a700 is still the best vta car in my opinion.

Yokomo and xray are always good choices too (kinda like xray more because part availability) but I think before jumping into a new car wait and see how the new cars perform.

Great info with some valid points, Iím definitely leaning towards the Xray/Yokomo (conventional TC) due to the fact I really donít understand and know how to work on the awesomatix. Not saying anything negative about the car, I just think it way beyond may skill set. Iíve had The TC4 before and itís a wonderful car, although the price point on parts and accessories can be a little challenging. Thatís why I made the switch over to the Tc7.

The 2020 ARC R11 will be another to keep both eyes open too. We already have the factory mid motor conversion for the 2019 R11 and is working very well.

If you're worried about the price of spares, the 3racing advance 20m mid motor is out this week ($250 plus tax & shipping). Very decent car but less setup info about than for xray etc and it's more tailored to asphalt racing. Spares prices for example are $8 for a pair of drive shafts... (With free shipping)

Only issue with 3racing is you have to put x-ray parts on it to keep it running. I had the Sakura ultimate and just like the Tamiya 419's the parts were brittle or create slop quickly. X-ray is usually a direct replacement with the option of wider arms for the front
