Speedydad

Just go Brushless, Novak GTB and whatever Velocity motor you like out of the bunch....10.5, 8.5, 7.5, 6.5, 5.5 or 4.5. Don't have to worry about too much maintenance on the motor, give you more time to drive and work on your son's car.

Unfortunately, you can't run a brushless at our track. No class for it.

I edited my setup. I was mistaken. I am running a 35 tooth pinion. Sure does run well. I TQ'd tonight over the slightly faster 6 cell cars and took the A-Main by 1 lap. The XRay runs SOOOOOO smooth that I pulled full throttle at the start and never let off even aq tiny bit. The faster cars were trying to muscle it around the track but just kept overpowering the corners. Motor was still very cool. I want to try to find 36 and 37 tooth pinions to try.

The only touring car body I have found is the YRay sedan which is the Yokomo shell with Xray packaging. SpeedtechRC has in stock a cartoonish looking McClaren body also and they show some Subaru and other import style bodies but they never have them in stock.

I'd really like to find some others but it seems the wind has gone out of the sails on this class of car.

i could be wrong but i think the Yokomo MD is about 167 x 208 .....so these just might fit (167 mm being the bottom outsides of the tires...i didn't measure the top of the tires but it would obviously be less with the camber )

Has anyone had success installing Team Orions new Lipo platinum pack in the Xray T1M without the pack touching the front belt?

Well, after looking around, I found that pinions in 48P only go up to 35 tooth. I did find out, however, that if I switch to 64P, I can go the eqivalent of 1 tooth smaller on the spur which should clear the motor still and about another 2 teeth on the pinion. Bugtooth was corect. Thanks for the idea,

I did try one other experiment at the track. I strapped a fifth cell to the top of the battery strap and it was noticiably faster. I may have to do that. They are kicking me out of the novice class after only my 2nd week of racing. My car ran 1 lap over the cutoff but they purposefully didn't call it so I can run novice for 1 more week. I love how smooth this car is. Before adding that last cell, I'm going to try to change the drive ratio and see where that gets me along with the ideas listed above to lighten up the car. I want to try to make this little car as fast as the 6 cell sedans on just 4 vells.

Default keep it going man....

Speedydad...
Glad to hear you are getting that car together. Few more things you might consider trying with the T1M...

- use the front one way drive from you sons FK05

or

- Make your T1M a 2wd car instead of a 4wd car, remove front diff, and front drive shafts, front belt (less weight and drag in car) use chassis weights where you need for oval racing

Have you tried smaller spur gears in 48P I have seen some as small as 70T or 72T, Robinsons Racing.

Have you tried the lower ratio pullies with gives you 1.77 drive ratio compared to the 2.125 of the stock T1M. That could make a difference with you use the 35T pinion on the current 84T spur you have.

For alternate 1/12 scale bodies try this place....

http://www.deltaplastik.it/

I have ordered some 1/8 scale Rally car bodies from them and they arrived with No problems.

Keep us updated with your results. The last 1/12 scale Touring Car thread just died out, kind of like the Xray T1M forum...
