I took the class win (17.5), and only 1 other car (running a 13.5) was quicker than me overall.

Im still buzzing. The car made a stir I had several people come over and enquire what it was, and then started to look where sells them.
Stop tempting me 👿 😂😉

Good review of 420X and comparison with 420.

Of course, the hardware is always same, as different prices. But the resulting performance may deeply depend on, what you do with the kit.
What you do with the kit is everything. The box setup doesn't include tires, motor, gearing, body, etc., and those have a little importance.

Just purchased a TRF420 and plan on racing in 17.5 TC - can't wait until it gets here.

Thank you! What should I say? After the last training on Arena33 track in Andernach (Germany) and some more extensive comparison between 420 and 420X the lap-time difference was not that big. But what has dramatically changed with the 420X was driveability. It was much more safe to drive and thus laptimes were more consistent (StDev was about 0,1sec better than with my 420).

World preparation still in progress. For sure, I will not aim for any top positions, as my driving is simply not good enough. But my aim is to be somewhere in the better half of all competitors. I will once more play with the lower rollcenter and will also try to get longer wheelbase on rear (E-E blocks + ARS - thanks to Dominik Ruf`s hint ;-) ). Furthermore I will try different spring setups. Currently still best was Axon HPS Blue/Red and SLS Green.

Interesting… E/E in rear plus ARS.

Finally got to run the 420X at the track (medium-high grip carpet), and i'll echo what everyone was saying. I never ran the 420, but the 420X is easily the most forgiving car i've ever run. I was able to run 3 sessions incident free (which is saying a lot for me), and i found a setup that i'm pretty comfortable with. Upfront, camber at -2, toe at +1, and in the rear, camber at -3 and toe at -2. I like the 'lazy' rear end on this set up. Ride height at 5.2mm all around droop at 5.2mm and 4.8mm front to rear. Can't wait to get some races in!

Default Trf420X review

Have eventually finished my TRF420X review.

It really is a nice step forward. I am getting faster and faster with this car. The crazy thing is that it’s so easy to drive. Today I just broke my PB (and track record) by over 10 seconds with this car. I set the time in the final, I wasn’t even pushing too hard as I wanted to ensure I got top points for the summer championship.

I also included a range of different drivers experiences with the new chassis in this review.

Is there a specific reason why it's so fast ?
