We could make a macro that locks the thread two minutes before King Bert gets out of timeout.

You'd need to buy adjustable links.

No adjustable links. Perhaps no adjustable suspension mounts.

Plus $60 for shipping. And two weeks of shipping.

... Mind.. I am a fan of rcmart. :-)

The TB05, is a $300 car in the US. And while I don't think that's exorbitant, we have $100 belted touring cars. And $160 1/14 scale 4wd buggies. We should have a $100-200 nice shafty touring car.
The $100 belt-driven touring cars and $160 buggies you speak of are garbage. Inflation means money can't buy as much as it used to, and RC technology has advanced faster than the manufacturing methods have improved, and both of those factors mean you'll have to spend $300 for a nice RC car in 2019.

I recommend the Tamiya TB-04R, if you can find one. Excellent zero-drama chassis with tons of adjustability. But you underestimate what belt-drive can withstand. The Tamiya XV-01 has a hybrid gear-drive/belt-drive system that moves the belt above the chassis, and it can handle driving on dirt and gravel.

You're just.. plain... wrong. The $100 cars are out there, winning races, on asphalt and carpet.

The $160 buggies *shrugs* are a better combinations and setup than anything I've bought for less than $400. Car, ESC, Servo, shocks with TiN coated shafts, metal body shocks, a full set of springs, a full set of swaybars, full bearings, aluminum chassis, steel suspension mounts, etc, etc, etc...

You're also changing the goalposts. With the demise of the TC4 (a $149 car..) we lost the cheap, decent shaft drive car. What's the replacement is the question. A $300 car isn't a replacement.
