Elexis vs Solaris tires for asphalt
Anyone have an opinion on the Elexis tires vs the solaris. Using on asphalt in central California and asphalt temp can be extremely high.

A lot of us are using the Elexis 40s in AZ, but might be slightly hotter than CA. Not sure which Solaris versions you are looking at, but a buddy of mine recently bought some of the "Hard" solaris tires and they didn't last more than 2 races on our local track.

Comparing both brands 36’s at Speedworld where the nats will be held.....many are finding the Elexis tire to over heat during a run. The Solaris doesn't have this issue. It’s possible that you may have to run an Elecis 40 and see how it stacks up against a Solaris 36. |

In our experience, solaris is good for 5-8 runs, after that, big loss in laptimes.. Never tried Elexis yet so no basis for comparison

Solaris for sure!

I’m interested this as well. How well do the Solaris tires wear I’ve heard a few runs and they fall off a lot and I’ve heard more. How do the Elixis tires hold up before you soo a big fall off. Also how do the Elixis tires compare to Rush tires? thanks Bill |

Just my $0.02.. We used Elexis 40s for the CTS round at Valkaria. I found them to be very poorly constructed. The belts in the tires overlapped making a bump in the tire that caused flat spot wear. The performance from set to set was also very suspect, some sets were OK, some sets you went out and did donuts. I don’t think 40s were the right hardness choice for the conditions as the tires grained a lot, but overall I was less than impressed. Solaria 36s were used for the paved nats at ft Myers last year. I was very happy with the tires at this race. Very consistent from set to set, and not much fall off between runs. I was very happy to hear that these will be the control tires again at speedworld this year as this means the tire situation should hopefully be drama free |
As you can see everyone has different experiences. LOL I'd suggest buying a set of each and trying for yourself.

Also, when switching to 40s you will need to make setup changes.

I heard someone say, "Choosing the correct tires for current conditions is a dark art."
