Just like the Awesomatix Front wheel drive kit,

until it was released and is now banned from the ETS

I guess itís because it opens a massive can of worms.

Allowing aero like this on the chassis would spiral down a rabbit hole of development.

Just look at all the bickering back and forth in actual F1 about Aero. Personally, I am all for progress, but as stated, its going to be a Pain in the long run. Next thing you know setup sheets will have different type of "arm wings" and Chassis "winglets", then it will be talk of what angle of attack on the wings, what hardness wings etc. etc.

I may be in the minority, but I do not think for the current state of our hobby, that this is a step in the right direction! Just like in the early 90's when LRP and Helbing tried to bring (sneak) in some prototype ESC's with front wheel, and spur gear sensors (Traction Control) into the first generation of R/C F1... that was outlawed right away after it was outed in tech. Some things may be "cool" but its just going to cause more confusion and frustration in the long run.

Interesting perspectives... not sure I agree in an elite MOD TC class where everything is already maxxed out, the speeds are ludicrous, and it certainly isn't the hardware that's winning races but rather the pilot's skills, but I understand where you both are coming from. In milder classes, such as those super-popular ones in the US, I don't think the speed would create enough aero load anyway. But then again, what do I know!

Re Helbing's traction control in the 90's - this is different I think, truly an active driver's aid that was monitoring what was happening on the car and leveraging a feedback loop - aero devices such as those pictured above are purely passive, just like the wing we all have on the rear of our Zooracings, MonTechs and Protoforms.

What's the story on the FF Awesomatix being banned from ETS, I assume from the FWD class?

From what has been posted and that I have seen, Awesomatix put their ideas for their FWD to ETS organisers to check the way they were going was ok and would be allowed. They were given the green light.
Move forward and they produce the car and it turns out to be very quick. Next bit is allegedly a manufacturer complained as all the other FWD cars including their's had the motor in front of the front axles and as the Awesomatix has it behind the axles it was not in the spirit of the class.
ETS then said the Awesomatix would not be allowed to run.
It is allowed I believe in every other series.

I believe there is an entire thread, devoted just to whining about this very thing. Here's a link in case you're interested.

I don't think he was whining - he was just answering my "what happened" question.

Cheers all who shed light on this story
