Does anyone have issues with the tensioner on this car? I am having a custom aluminum mount made for mine. Also, what do you do on batteries to keep them in place? I am not a fan of tape. Wondering if velcro or other solutions

I don't bother with battery hold downs - they seem to stay in there. I have my motor wires routed over them so that may help.

Not a fan of the tensioner - seems like it needs some more adjustment/travel but I have not done anything about it

Probably overkill but a friend made me a mount with adjustment.

Stinks that so few people have these cars

my car seems pretty slow. Like way slow compared to a mod TC. Track is fairly short but it is slow on the straight. The motor is a Trinity 2300kv speedo is the new 1/8 Muchmore. Seems like going from 1 on power to 12 to 19 (full) meant no change.

I have added 10 degrees boost then 20 and 30 almost no change.

the motor can is set to 0 timing. Can I assume I need to bump that up? Or do I need a 2600?

This is from earlier in this thread:

I think it looks slower than that. You have ~90% of the kv that I have. The castle is sensorless and I have not messed with timing on the ESC at all. On a motor tester the Castle shows 2700kv or so...

Is full throttle calibrated correctly?

I have a sensored LRP 2700kv to go in at some point - but it can wait until I need to pull it apart for something else . . .

Hello there from Greece!! I'm a proud owner of a RX8E. Unfortunately I can't post pic yet, bcs I havent mad posts yet. I managed to fit an HW XR8 Plus under the top deck with a little modification of the upper plate. Unfortunately, here currently I'm the only one who owns an electric 8th scale, but that's fine. I play 5min run with friends with nitro

this was from my small track yesterday. The times are like tc mod times. I feel like it needs more umlh. It is as fast 10 ft down the straight as it is at the end of the straight.

Has anyone added anything below the batteries to keep them off the alum? Itís so hot. Batteries come off about 145 degrees (track is hot about 150) chassis alone is like 120-130 easy.

That sounds like your batteries are having trouble keeping up? May need some higher performance packs or perhaps don't discharge so low? On some of my packs I put the soft side of some stick on velcro - just to elevate the packs a little to make the connectors easier to get to. Not for heat.

I'm not 100% satisfied with any of the shorty packs I have used to be honest. Its one of my disappointments with this car. 1/8 anything is hard on packs and especially so with Shortys

These have been the best but they are 26mm thick - I remove the labels so they slide in and out better but if they get a slight puff under load it can be tricky.

These are 25mm thick but less capacity

I have some other shorty packs but these 2 are the best both in testing and in use.

It has been a while since I have been out for a run so I dont have the details memorised - but the only time I was concerned about pack temp was when a local 'pro' driver took my car around the track above - he was on it. I will pay more attention next time.

The Turnigy Panther are the best packs I have and the best I have seen tested - but they dont come in hard case or shorty...

As an added benefit on packs with through holes you can make a 5mm double bullet, make a little clearance with a dremel and you no longer need a wire joining packs

What is the resting voltage of your packs after a run?

Yeah! I put some protective foam which we usually put on touring bodies. Not only for the heat but also bcs I dont want the batteries to "hit" in hard area.

I use IP 6000. After 5minutes run they rest ath 3.60-3.55 per cell.
