Would using comm drops on these motors help the performance or would it be just a waste of money?

Also what is the best run in method. Like what volts and how long?

Cheers

I wouldnt, metho is a mild cleaning agent, paint stripper may take the epoxy off your windings and kill the motor...

thanks.

got a mini m03 last year and it came with a johnson 540 motor. Silver can, shiny finish.

just got a suzuki swift m03m and it came with a mabuchi RS-540SH silver matte finish.

What are the differences between these 2 motors.?

Not much difference, they are both 27turn, sealed motors, both are legal for running in the 540 class.

There are a few silver can motors around that are 20 turn, but of course they arent legal for the 540 class, and if anyone comes over to inspect your motor it is blatently obvious it is a 20 turn motor, so its very hard to get away with...
